Location(s): Northern Virginia.

Travel Involved: Limited Travel.

Job Type: Full-Time Contract Position.

Clearance Level Needed: At minimum, a Secret security clearance. Interim clearances are acceptable.

Years of Experience: Five years experience in 3 of the 5 areas. (See Position Summary)

Degrees: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent.


Position Summary


A Journeyman Systems Engineer must demonstrate 5 years experience in 3 of the 5 areas in the following areas:

Area 1

Application of systems engineering methodologies in a federal environment (i.e., in support of federal government agency).

Area 2

Implementing DoDAF requirements. This includes the following:

  • Demonstrated experience and expertise implementing the DoDAF capabilities-based requirements process, which includes the development of supporting architectural frameworks
  • Provided Systems Engineering rigor to a host of internal and external processes to include risk management and mission analysis
  • Provided innovative approaches, developing methodology options, and creating recommendations for the application of System Engineering principles
  • Applied Systems Engineering principles to address the requirement to understand and organize complex systems
  • Assessed commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) systems engineering tools as they apply to current and future processes, work efforts, and product lines.

Area 3

Capturing Systems Engineering analysis in the CORE systems engineering tool.

Area 4

Software development experience relating to interfacing analytical outputs with visualization tools, such as, ESRI GIS tools, ThinkMap and YFiles.

Area 5

Experience with Systems eEngineering tasking in support of any of the military services or other federal agencies, such as, FEMA, Department of Transportation, Department of Energy, Department of State, or Department of Homeland Security.
