International Council on Systems Engineering Awards President, Founder of SPEC Innovations for Outstanding Service
The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) has awarded Steven H. Dam, Ph.D, ESEP with the Outstanding Service Award for growth and development of the Washington Metro Area Chapter of INCOSE and its events.
“The award recognizes INCOSE members who have contributed significant volunteer effort on behalf of the not-for-profit organization that promotes international collaboration in systems engineering practice, education and research.” – INCOSE
Dr. Dam has contributed to the WMA INCOSE chapter through his positions as Director-at-Large, President, and Programs Chair. As President, Dr. Dam stressed the importance of good rotation leadership. He wanted newer members to feel they have an opportunity to participate and lead, while also continuing the growth of WMA INCOSE.
Through programs chair he increased member involvement through satellite presentations. These presentations allowed members to watch presenters from all over the Washington Metro Area. He also sought after notable speakers, such as John Zachman, and Mason Peck.
Dr. Dam was the Conference Chair for SEDC (Systems Engineering District of Columbia) 2012, 2014, and will be again for 2016. SEDC is a conference for those related to the systems engineering field in the Washington Metro Area. SEDC provides a local conference with world-renowned speakers without the cost of travel.
